Kootenay National Park
| 8/18/2006 - 8/19/2006: The ride into Kootenay would bring hazier skies. As I would find out, I had passed into a different canyon system, and the haze was from a nearby fire... I would be forced to camp "standed" by a river as a campsite I had planned to stay was closed (for a reason independent of the fire). However, I felt good since there were also less traffic and less people. I well well - parts of the ride felt spiritual. I composed many more songs.... |

- 8/18/2006 (Fri) - Mosquito Creek Campground to Vermillion Crossing Picnic Area, 63.24 miles: A great section of today's ride was quite spiritual, with the day ending with me getting stranded in the middle of nowhere today and forced to bear bag my stuffs for the first time this trip. (journal)
- 8/19/2006 (Sat) - Vermillion Crossing Picnic Area to Hootos Mountain Resort, 68.66 miles: the experience of today's ride was quite diverse, from long climbs to exhilerating descents, from traffic-filled highways to quiet country roads, and from the peaceful wilderness to touristy towns. (journal)
