7/19/2003, Nehalem Bay State Park to Cape Lookout State Park, 50.29 miles

We encountered some hills along today's scenic route, but if the maps are right - it's nothing compared to what we will encounter tomorrow! Earlier in the morning, we stopped by Tomahook Cheese Factory to have some freshly made ice cream (YUMMY). Afterwards, Diana and us parted ways for the last time.

Sis would begin to ride ahead from now on, which is probably safer since it's easier for cars to pass one bicyclist than two at a time. For lunch, we had a 15" seafood pizza (and had leftovers). For dinner, we had chicken rice soup.

After getting into camp around 4 or so, I wanted to cap off the day with a hike to Cape Lookout Point, but the 8+ miles of rugged, steep terrain - often under a dense forest - had a suggested routrip time of 4-8 hours, which was more time than I had. So I only hiked a bit to get a feel for the area and later walked a little along the beach.

One quick observation: after talking to others and seeing what others bought, I am beginning to think more and more that I have packed too much.
